Ross Stefan moved to Southern Arizona from Wisconsin in 1953. He became an art student at the University of Arizona and did illustrations for the Tucson Daily Citizen. He established his own gallery in Tubac and began painting full-time. He gained ultimate fame and stardom when his New York City show in 1971 virtually sold out on opening night. His southwestern impressionistic paintings are highly coveted.
