Traditional embroidery from the southern Mexico state of Oaxaca often symbolizes the personal dreams and life stories of the artist.  Other motifs include regional flora and fauna.  Many indigenous groups grow the plants to produce the thread and textiles used to make garments, pillowcases and bags delicately embroidered by hand.
